Compensation (Pay): $60,400 to $87,580/annually, based on experience.

Summary: The Medical Assistant Supervisor provides direct operational support, supervision, and leadership guidance for all designated staff, as assigned. Supervises all routine clinical and administrative duties and functions in the delivery of patient care. Observes and verifies competency of Medical Assistant staff ensuring quality care and exceptional service is provided to the patient, while adhering to all Peak Vista policies and procedures and applicable regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the day-to-day operations of assigned clinical staff as a member of the health center leadership team
  • Promotes and participates in the development of team-based care to ensure all delivery platforms support a patient-centric approach
  • Schedules designated staff, monitors attendance, approves timecards, and manages time off requests
  • Participates in the hiring, orientation, training process, professional development, and performance management for all designated staff
  • Ability to precept staff and externs, and on-board new employees, as required
  • Schedules meetings, formulates agendas, facilitates, and maintains minutes, and participates in all meetings as assigned (e.g., team huddles, unit meetings, etc.)
  • Coordinates with Nursing Department on initial/annual MA competency skills check
  • As required, due to staffing shortages, emergencies, and training opportunities, provides direct support for patient care to perform routine and acute clinical functions, pertinent to efficient ambulatory patient care, under the direction of a licensed healthcare provider
  • Possesses the knowledge of key operating systems and standard operating procedures within the health centers, while ensuring staff and health center adherence
  • Monitor telephone queues to ensure calls are answered within defined metric standards
  • Supervises vaccine program support and inventory management for all immunizations, as required
  • Orders appropriate materials and supplies in line with budgetary guidance
  • Executes Process Improvement/Quality Improvement activities in coordination with Quality Assurance Team and immediate supervisor
  • Ensures patient and employee safety, and satisfaction, while addressing patient and staff concerns and critical organizational reporting, in a timely manner, in support of the provider-patient relationship
  • Possesses effective interpersonal and professional communication skills and abilities in conjunction with emotional intelligence

Supervision Exercised: If applicable, Coordinator(s) of Clinical Operations, Medical Assistants, and designated staff.

Demonstrates strong leadership skills, knowledge, and abilities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensures that the appropriate personnel meet all job required competencies.

Education/Experience:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent education. Bachelor’s in health-related field or business preferred.

Work Experience: 3–4 years of relevant healthcare experience (of which 2 years must be in direct patient care as a Medical Assistant) with 2 years of leadership experience required.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer knowledge, experience with use of electronic health records, internet, database software, and keyboard skills.

Certification and Licenses: Registered/Certified Medical Assistant, BLS certification.
