Compensation (Pay): $23.16 to $33.58/hourly, based on experience.

Job Summary: This position is primarily responsible for developing, submitting, and managing all components of state and private foundation grant proposals and reports. The Grant Writer works with program staff, administrative staff, Peak Vista leadership, and community partners (as applicable) to develop grant-funded projects and proposal components, including but not limited to narratives, budgets, project plans, logic models, and reports. Post award, the Grant Writer facilitates the implementation of grant-funded projects by convening all key stakeholders and developing a project team to ensure the successful implementation and management of the project, including but not limited to ensuring deadlines are met, deliverables are completed, funds are appropriately expended, and issues are addressed in a timely manner. The Grant Writer is responsible for ensuring compliance with all funder requirements and state/federal rules and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively research, target, and pursue grant funding opportunities that align with Peak Vista's mission and values.
  • Submit timely progress and close-out reports for all assigned grants.
  • Works as an active team member to ensure that the goals and deadlines of the grant team are met.
  • Collaborates with Clinical and Administrative Departments for grant seeking in support of both internal programming and community-based activities.
  • Coordinates/facilitates project team meetings in grant development, and post award implementation when necessary.
  • Coordinates the submission of successful grant proposals including proposal writing, editing, budget, financial presentations and any additional items required by the grant.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with all departments, the management team, medical staff, and leadership.

Key Skills:

  • Professional writing: demonstrate mastery of grammar, style, punctuation, sentence structure, rhetoric, and editing
  • Finance: demonstrate ability to develop basic project budgets, monitor grant expenditures, and understand basic nonprofit financial concepts relevant to grant proposals
  • Software/digital platforms: demonstrate competency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and various online grant submission systems
  • Meeting facilitation: demonstrate ability to conduct effective, timely, and productive meetings with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
  • Organization: demonstrate organization by keeping detailed calendars and paper/digital records that allow timely submission and follow-up on applications and reporting.
  • Soft skills: must be diligent, adaptable, proactive, and professional. Strength in analytical, pragmatic, and strategic thinking beneficial.
     

Core Competencies:

  • Research, analyze, and identify funding opportunities that best align with Peak Vista’s strategic plan, community need, and funder priorities.
  • Plan, write, and submit effective proposals that meet funder criteria with appropriate level of detail, accurate supporting data, and compelling need. Proposal components include, but are not limited to, logic models, narratives, budgets, and project plans.
  • Manage awarded grant projects from development to close-out by ensuring deadlines are met, deliverables are completed, funds are appropriately expended, and issues are addressed in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with all funder requirements and state/federal regulations.
  • Facilitate relationships with program staff, Peak Vista leadership, and other key stakeholders by managing up and across, resolving conflict, and building goodwill. Work to educate key stakeholders in grantsmanship best practices and act as a guide through the grant lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of standards of practice for grants professionals in ethics, best practices, tools, skills, etc.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent education. Bachelor’s degree in professional and technical writing, English, or journalism preferred. Other related experience, degrees and/or certificates in grant writing/management will be considered.

Work Experience: Minimum of two years of demonstrated success in the submission of technical reports, and/or grants, including budget presentations, is required. Other technical writing experience may be considered. Experience working with State-funded projects and/or federally qualified health centers is preferred. Grant Professional Certified (GPC) credential is desirable.

Computer Skills: Intermediate ability to access the intra/internet to manage timecard, review policies and procedures, and read company communications; use e-mail to communicate with co-workers, leadership, and other departments; work with multiple worksheets, filter data, use integrate functions; customize templates and the PowerPoint environment, and to make a presentation interactive by using hyperlinks and action buttons.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Grant Professional Certified (GPC) credential is preferred.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age or older to be an eligible driver on behalf of Peak Vista.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Must meet and maintain driver criteria as prescribed by Peak Vista’s insurance underwriter.
