Associate Program Director, Peak Vista Family Medicine Residency

Peak Vista Community Health Center Family Medicine Residency is seeking a full time Associate Program Director to join their faculty team.  Located within a Federally Qualified Health Center, Peak Vista Family Medicine Residency’s vision is to educate and create future family physicians who are devoted to this community and to providing care within it.   We are committed to provide an organized educational program, to facilitate e the resident’s ethical, professional and personal development, through education, evaluation, and to provide resident supervision that supports safe and appropriate patient care.

Located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, you can enjoy an outdoor lifestyle with hiking, biking, running, skiing, paddle boarding, camping, etc.  Multiple national parks and forests nearby and we have 360 days of sunshine per year!

The position offers great quality of work/life balance with four 10-hour days, minimal call, and some inpatient care may be required. 

Summary: Responsible for assisting the Program Director with the development, maintenance and ongoing supervision of the Peak Vista Family Medicine Residency program, in accordance with ACGME guidelines and Peak Vista Community Health Center mission/vision/values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Assumes responsibility for Family Medicine Residency Program in the absence of the Program Director.
  • Assists with the development of the residents into fully capable, compassionate physicians. Serves as faculty and resident advisor.
  • Assists the program director with the development of the residency lecture cycle, ensuring adequate emphasis placed on foundational topics, including professionalism, ethics, core competencies and guiding principles.
  • Assists the Program Director with recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Provides leadership for all faculty, residents and staff.
  • Assists the Program Director with the design and implementation of annual resident orientation.
  • Participates in the evaluation of all residents and other learners.
  • Serves on Clinical Competency Committee and Program Evaluation Committee.
  • Obtain hospital staff privileges in all hospitals in which residents rotate.
  • Assist the program director in overseeing the development and execution of all clinical and business activities related to the Family Medicine Practice (continuity clinic) that impact the residency and/or are tasked to the residency operations
  • Assist the program director in supervising the faculty’s summative evaluation / advising work with the residents and in supervising the residency grievance process.
  • Assist the program director in grant-writing to obtain funding of the residency and/or residency educational/research projects
  • Completes a quality assurance/practice management project or scholarly activity annually.
  • Assist the Program Director in being responsible for creating a culture throughout the residency program – including all Faculty, Residents and Support Staff – that models and incorporates Peak Vista’s core values, Peak Vista’s commitment to the mission of Community Health Centers and the model of Physicians as servant leaders in the organization and the community.
  • Participates in clinical activities:
    • Provides patient care in appropriate clinical setting.
    • Reviews patient assessments and management plans.
    • Serves as faculty/preceptor to residents.

Direct Reports: Family Medicine faculty, Family Medicine residents.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Graduation from an accredited osteopathic or allopathic medical school and successful Family Medicine Residency program completion.
3 years minimum as Core Faculty with an ACGME accredited Family Medicine program
Documented history of current inpatient hospitalist work and outpatient/ambulatory care of patients of all ages
History of prior publications/documented scholarly activity
Competent in all basic (ex. Skin bx, toenail removal, excisions, joint injections) and some complex procedures done in the outpatient setting (ex. IUD, Nexplanon)
Mastery of one or more EHRs (Nextgen, Epic, GE centricity) a plus
Able to effectively use all major IT software suites common to the healthcare industry
Evidence of prior leadership/management experience.

Computer Skills: Intermediate - ability to access the intra/internet, review policies and procedures, and read company communications; use e-mail to communicate with co-workers, leadership, and other departments; use and create a variety of templates, complex tables, merges; manage table data, sort and filter merges, and also perform basic work with existing Macros; customize toolbars, import and insert graphs, embed Excel data, and elaborate reports; work with multiple worksheets, filter data, use integrate functions, and manipulate databases; customize templates and the PowerPoint environment, and to make a presentation interactive by using hyperlinks and action buttons

Certificates and Licenses:

MD or DO License
Current board certification in Family Medicine
ACLS, BLS
DEA
ALSO a plus

Compensation (Pay): $208,212.80 to $220,193.60 based on experience.
*Other compensation may include signing bonuses, rural differentials, and relocation reimbursement.
