Compensation (Pay): $70,927.17 to $102,844.39 annually, based on experience.

Summary: The Sterile Processing Risk Manager oversees all sterilization processes, as well as dental risk and infection control processes across Peak Vista, providing technical expertise, regulatory oversight, and leadership in promoting safe, compliant, and efficient sterilization operations in both Medical and Dental services. This role ensures that all processes meet or exceed federal, state, and local requirements, and proactively mitigates risks related to infection transmission and equipment safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:
STERILIZATION / INFECTION CONTROL:
- Oversee all aspects of sterilization including cleaning, disinfection, packaging, storage, and expiration monitoring.
- Ensures compliance with chemical and biological indicator protocols for sterilization efficacy.
- Maintains high standards of hand hygiene, surface disinfection, PPE usage, and bio-hazard disposal.
- Contributes program-specific expertise to infection control programs, ensuring effective prevention of cross-contamination and outbreaks.
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE / SAFETY STANDARDS:
- Ensures compliance with OSHA, CDC, AAMI, OSAP, ADA, and State Dental Board Regulations, as applicable.
- Performs occupational exposure risk assessments (e.g. bloodborne pathogens, aerosols, sharps injuries)
- Implements and monitors sharps and radiation safety practices, including x-ray equipment oversight, lead shielding, and dosimetry.
- Serves as a subject matter expert on biological hazard management and emergency protocols.
EQUIPMENT AND FACILITY MAINTENANCE:
- Oversees calibration, maintenance, and testing of sterilization equipment, dental waterlines, and air filtration systems.
- Monitors inventory and safe storage of disinfectants and sterile processing materials.
- Ensures strict adherence to Manufacturers’ Instructions for Use (MIFU) for all pertinent equipment and products.
RISK INVESTIGATIONS AND INCIDENT REPORTING:
- Leads investigations into sterilization process failures, failed spore tests, near-misses, and dental infection reports.
- Conducts root cause analysis and recommends corrective and preventative actions.
- Tracks trends, violations, and non-compliance; reports outcomes to the infection control and risk management teams and senior leadership.
TRAINING, RECORDKEEPING, AND STAFF COMPLIANCE:
- Overseas the Site Supervisor for Central Sterile Processing.
- Participates in interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and providing disciplinary action for sterilization staff.
- Ensure sterilization staff complete all required CE and training and all training has been documented within 90 days of the new hire date.
- Responsible for retraining/remediation and disciplinary action for non-compliance around sterile processes and dental infection control.
- Provides onboarding and continuing education for sterilization, related infection prevention practices and dental risk.
- Conducts frequent sterilization audits and staff performance reviews.
- Ensures all training materials, policies, and procedures are current, inclusive, and aligned with best practices.
- Intervenes and retrains staff on improper PPE, storage, or sterilization techniques.
- Maintains detailed sterilization logs, spore test results, exposure incident reports, and training/remediation documentation.
- Ensures accurate recordkeeping of compliance assessments and annual risk evaluations.
- Maintains and updates policies protocols in alignment with current regulations and standards.
- Leads quality improvement initiatives related to sterilization and dental infection prevention and serves on the Infection Prevention Committee, as applicable.
- Communicates patient safety risks promptly and effectively.

Supervision Received: Vice President of Clinical Operations
Supervision Exercised: Site Supervisor and Sterilization Technicians. Process oversight and collaborative indirect supervision of any individual performing sterile processing tasks or participating in dental risk-associated tasks.
Strong leadership skills, knowledge and abilities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensures that the appropriate personnel meet all job required competencies.

Education / Experience:
Education: High School or GED required. Bachelors preferred. Must possess, or previously have possessed, certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or a Certified Registered Central Service Technician from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM); Must possess in depth knowledge of current sterilization processes and equipment.
Work Experience: 5- 7 years of relevant healthcare experience, with 3 years of previous experience as a Sterile Processing Technician required. 3 years of leadership experience required.
Computer Skills: Intermediate - ability to access the intra/internet to manage timecard, review policies and procedures, and read company communications; use e-mail to communicate with co-workers, leadership, and other departments; use and create a variety of templates, complex tables, merges; manage table data, sort and filter merges, and also perform basic work with existing Macros; customize toolbars, import and insert graphs, embed Excel data, and elaborate reports; work with multiple worksheets, filter data, use integrate functions, and manipulate databases; customize templates and the PowerPoint environment, and to make a presentation interactive by using hyperlinks and action buttons
