(AAAHC).

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the accurate reporting of the financial statement and supplemental data. This information will be shared with the leadership team, board of directors and external auditors. Monthly financial statements will be prepared through journal entries in accordance with GAAP, GAAS and other financial reporting standards. Supplemental ledgers, such as Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Accounts Receivable and payroll will be reconciled and confirmed prior to recording in the financial statements. The Staff Accountant must assure supporting documentation and logic is sound for postings, based on educational training and accounting judgment experience. Staff Accountant will identify and trend any concerns and assure concerns are brought to resolution to assure the integrity of the accounting. Assist with preparing and maintaining the annual budget. Prepares data for the 990, 5500 and financial sections of the UDS. Prepares grant accounting including but not limited preparing the budget – based on program design, completing funders submission requirements and preparing grant implementation reports to both leadership and the funders. Prepares audit work papers. Provides support for the accounts payable, payroll, and cash functions when necessary. Maintains fixed asset ledgers and depreciation schedules. Performs other duties as assigned .

Qualifications

Education: Associate’s degree required, with Bachelor’s degree preferred: Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. In some cases experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.

Work Experience: Two to three years of staff accounting experience required, preferably half of the experience is to be healthcare related, such as a medical group clinic or hospital. Experience with non-profit accounting and direct experience running supplemental accounting programs (A/P, A/R, P/R, etc.) preferred.

Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability): High language, high reasoning and critical thinking abilities.

Computer Skills: Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and experience in other accounting programs required. Experience with ADP, NexGen and PV’s accounting software preferred. Experience with Dynamics SL and FRX preferred. Ability to adapt to new software. 10 key by touch.

Other Skills: Demonstrates ability to work/manage projects. Manage priorities..

Physical Demands

Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills. Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
