Peak Vista Community Health Centers is a non-profit healthcare organization whose mission is to provide exceptional healthcare to people facing access barriers.  We provide primary care services (medical, dental and behavioral healthcare) through 25 outpatient health centers in El Paso, Teller, Lincoln, Adams, Elbert, and Kit Carson counties.  We deliver care with our strong “Hospitality” culture.  Our organization has over 600 employees and serves over 10% of the residents in the Pikes Peak region.  Peak Vista is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC).

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

Plans, directs, and coordinates Nursing Staff and advises medical staff, department heads, and administrators in matters related to nursing service by performing the following duties:

  • Management of employee timecards, PTO requests, evaluations, training and training plans, budgeting and staffing issues
  • Provides leadership and direction for planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities related to the Care Team nursing staff at all PVCHC sites to include professional development.
  • Provides staffing through per diem nursing pool or Assistant Director of Nursing pool to support Clinical Care teams for patient care.
  • Act as the clinical nursing resource for the development and implementation of nursing projects within the care team models for all clinics to include but not limited to Nursing driven visits for patient care.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of an Infection Control plan including staff education and annual review of competencies.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of the infection prevention surveillance plan and modifies as necessary
  • Represent PVCHC as needed in meetings with outside agencies.
  • Act as the clinical nursing resource in regards to current and future project management, strategic planning, quality improvement and assurance.
  • Conducts the investigation of unusual clinical infection exposures or outbreaks, utilizing microbiology laboratory, county/state health departments and if necessary, the Center for Disease Control
  • Conduct environmental rounds, collects data, and completes audits to monitor for compliance
  • Participate in quality/performance improvement by assessing, monitoring and measuring infection prevalence
  • Acts as a supportive clinical liaison for accreditation review and provides technical assistance as needed
  • Primary responsibility for Worker’s Compensation program for PVCHC staff.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing required.

Work Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of nursing experience required with a minimum of 1 year in a nursing leadership preferred; ambulatory care/primary care setting experience preferred; knowledge of process improvement or infection control preferred.

 

Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability): Excellent language, reasoning, and critical thinking abilities required. Calm under pressure, excellent conflict management skills required. Highly objective, seeks to obtain and understand all pertinent facts prior to reaching conclusions and able to multi-task.

Computer Skills: Must be computer literate and have keyboarding skills. Basic skills in tables, spreadsheets and word programs required.

Other Skills: Ability to multi-task and to manage several projects at one time and ability to work with a diverse patient population required. Customer service skills, Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus.

Certificates & Licenses: Current RN license and BLS. Colorado Driver's License and insurance as required by state law. 

Physical Demands

Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements, and frequent fine motor skills. Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
