Peak Vista Community Health Centers is a non-profit healthcare organization whose mission is to provide exceptional healthcare to people facing access barriers.  We provide primary care services (medical, dental and behavioral healthcare) through 25 outpatient health centers in El Paso, Teller, Lincoln, Adams, Elbert, and Kit Carson counties.  We deliver care with our strong “Hospitality” culture.  Our organization has over 600 employees and serves over 10% of the residents in the Pikes Peak region.  Peak Vista is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC).

Job Summary (Essential Functions)


The Vice President of Medical Services (VPM) reports directly to and works closely with the Chief Medical and Dental Officer (CMDO) to provide clinics administration, direct patient care in accordance with his/her health care discipline, and oversight of all medical providers and directors.  The position assumes the authority of the CMDO whenever he/she is not available, including the administrative supervision of the medical staff and directors reporting to the CMDO. There is approximately equal focus between administrative and clinical functions.  In the administrative area, he/she provides management and leadership for medical providers, directors reporting to the VPM, and clinical team managers.  She/he will collaborate with the CMDO to ensure appropriate recruitment, new staff orientation, staff planning and scheduling, performance reviews, staff development, disciplinary action, incentives, and motivation efforts.  Serves as first-line liaison between administration and medical staff and assures patients receive quality medical care and the smooth operation of all Peak Vista clinics.                     

Qualifications

Education: Must be licensed as a M.D. or D.O. and be licensed without restriction for their state board.  Board certification in a primary care specialty. Should obtain continuing education in both medical and management arenas. 
 
Work Experience: At least four years of active practice preferred.  Health care administrative experience preferred, to include previous experience as a department head, chief of staff, medical director, etc.
 
Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability): Must possess excellent cognitive skills.  Clinical skills should be at a level so as to command respect from the clinical staff.  Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.  Practice management skills and experience preferred.
 
Computer Skills: Should possess at least basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
 
Other Skills: Must possess and demonstrate clinical leadership skills.  Should possess a broad health care knowledge base with respect to the application of clinical skills and treatments for each lifestyle stage (pediatrics, adolescent, perinatal, adult, geriatric, and special populations).  Grant writing experience preferred. 
 
Certificates & Licenses: Must possess active Colorado clinical license.    Must be eligible to participate in Medicare/Medicare. 


Physical Demands
Must be mentally and physically capable of performing administrative tasks and providing patient care in an ambulatory clinic setting in accordance with ADA standards.
