Job Summary (Essential Functions)

Purpose:  Develops and maintains bilingual relationships in the community and among volunteers and community partners.  Assists the Volunteer Program Coordinator with fulfilling and collecting data and documenting grant and program requirements.
 
Location:  First Visitor office at International Circle
 
Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Initiates and conducts home visits with Spanish-speaking families.
  • Mentors and shares information with Spanish-speaking families in order to strengthen the parent/child relationship, assist parents in improving skills to optimize the home environment, educate parents in child care, growth and development.
  • Assists families with identifying and using appropriate community services and resources.
  • Promotes bilingual partnerships and outreach activities within the Spanish-speaking community.
  • Supports the grant cycle by conducting monthly phone calls and surveys, collecting and entering individual clients’ data of into the EPM/EHR systems, as appropriate, and adhering to internal encounter quotas.
  •  Assists with other program requirements, as needed.
  • Follows all relevant policies and procedures, observes all compliance requirements, and attends trainings as requested by Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Reports to:  Manager of Clinical Support Programs

Qualifications

Education:   Minimum high school diploma; prefer Associates Degree in healthcare, psychology or related field.  Knowledge of child development & parent/child relationships.
 
Work Experience:  Maturity and 1 year experience in successfully working with children 0-3 and their families, as well as knowledge of existing human services programs. Experience in data collection and client phone contact is preferred.
 
Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability):   Excellent language, reasoning and thinking abilities. Bilingual Spanish/English is required.
 
Computer Skills:  Word and Excel experience are required. Database experience is preferred.
 
Other Skills:  Knowledgeable of community resources; works well with diverse groups of people; ability to work effectively with families; strong interpersonal skills; self-starter.
 
Certificates & Licenses:  CPR certification.


Physical Demands

 Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills. Able to look at computer screen continuously for long periods of time. Hearing within normal range.  Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
