Peak Vista Community Health Centers provides exceptional healthcare to people facing access barriers.

We are a private nonprofit dedicated to premier medical, dental and behavioral health services for people of all ages. We provide primary care services to residents of the Pikes Peak Region through 19 outpatient health centers and are accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC).

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

Performs phlebotomy on patients of all ages, specimen handling and processing, manages reports and manages inventory and supplies. Demonstrates proper specimen preparation techniques and instructs patients in specimen collection. Answers the phone, follows billing procedures and cash handling functions. Is responsible for all functions involving patient test ordering and in house laboratory testing (waived testing). Performs other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High School graduate, GED, or equivalent in experience required. Training-accredited course (preferably 6 months) or 6 months of experience.

Work Experience: 6 months previous phlebotomy experience preferred.

Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability): Good written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to interpret colors. Must have good office skills. Must have good organization skills and troubleshooting skills.

Computer Skills: Possess basic computer skills and keyboarding skills.

Other Skills: Understands the basic concepts of routine laboratory procedures, quality control, quality assurance, lab values, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance and specimen collection and handling. Must exercise patience and compassion in dealing with clients of all ages and social and economic backgrounds.

Certificates & Licenses: Certificate in phlebotomy preferred, but not required.

Physical Demands

Physical Demands:
Able to support/lift at least 50 pounds. Long periods of standing, moving, occasional periods of sitting. Hearing within normal range for telephone use. Must be able to get from one clinic site to related locations.
