Job Summary (Essential Functions)

Supervises and directs Finance Department activities by performing the following duties to meet financial and regulatory reporting requirements.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include some or all of the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supervise accounting area functions including preparation and review of activities to ensure financial reporting is timely and accurate.
  • Participate in department-level strategic planning and implementation.
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
  • Establish, maintain and update an internal financial auditing process to assure compliance with accounting standards, as well as funders' requirements.
  • In coordination with the Vice President of Finance and the Director of Finance, coordinate audit and compliance reviews with external auditors.
  • Provide input and assistance with accounting issues related to contributions to Peak Vista Community Health Centers and Peak Vista Community Health Centers Foundation.
  • Coordinate with the Vice President of Finance and the Director of Finance to ensure the accounting for the Peak Vista Community Health Centers Foundation is both accurate and timely.
  • Assist with or be responsible for preparation of financial reporting and budgeting functions to include:
    • Medicare and Medicaid cost reports
    • Federal budget
    • Fixed assets
    • Bank account reconciliation
    • Unclaimed property tracking and remittance to the State
    • Annual operating budget
  • Assist the Director of Finance by providing financial support and guidance to other departments.
  • Responsible for occasional preparation of proforma financial budgets for grant applications and project proposals.
  • Working closely with the Vice President of Finance, provides current financial information and analysis to plan and monitor and project programs and trends for the Executive Team, the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors and other administrators.
  • In coordination with the Vice President of Finance and the Director of Finance, review and update as needed the fiscal policy manual.
  • Provide backup to the Director of Finance and the AP and Payroll Manager in the areas of cash management, payroll, and accounts payable.
  • Employee demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to the Compliance Plan and conflict of interest requirements. The employee enhances the effectiveness; efficiency and productivity of the department by contributing to, and participating in, departmental performance improvement goals
 

Supervision Exercised:

Finance Department employees whose responsibilities include: financial reporting and general ledger.


Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in business management, accounting and/or other related field required.

Work Experience:

Three to four years of progressively responsible accounting experience required, preferably half of the experience is to be healthcare related, such as a medical group clinic or hospital. Experience in a non-profit organization desirable. Previous supervisory experience preferred.

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, allocations, present value and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software; spreadsheet software; accounting software; internet software and database software.

 

Certificates and Licenses:

CPA, CMA or CIA preferred


Physical Demands
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and talk or hear.
