Job Summary (Essential Functions)
Supports pharmacists in the provision of pharmacy services to patients. Correctly interprets prescriptions including drug names, dosage forms, dosage strength, medical abbreviations and quantities. Has working knowledge of current PVCHC drug formulary and related policies. Identifies obvious errors or omissions on prescriptions. Enters prescription orders into the Pharmacy computer systems ensuring accuracy and completeness of all information. Has working knowledge of all prescription payers accepted and special programs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education: High school graduate, GED, Pharmacy Technician degree or equivalent work experience
Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience as a Pharmacy Technician desirable
Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability): Knowledge of drug nomenclature and pharmacy math; ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish)
Computer Skills: Keyboarding skills, literacy with pharmacy computer systems, IDX preferred
Other Skills: Ability to work with professional medical staff, skill to work with several unique pharmacy programs
Certificates & Licenses: National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred
Physical Demands
Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills. Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
