Vista Community Health Centers is a non-profit healthcare organization whose mission is to provide exceptional healthcare to people facing access barriers.  We provide primary care services (medical, dental and behavioral healthcare) through 26 outpatient health centers in The Pikes Peak and East Central regions of Colorado.  We deliver care with our strong “Hospitality” culture.  Our organization has over 750 employees and serves over 80,000 patients annually.  Peak Vista is a Federally Qualified Health Center and is  accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC).


Job Summary (Essential Functions)

Position is responsible for researching, preparing and submitting all types of grant applications, including but not limited to Private Foundations, Corporate Organizations, Health Resources Service Administration(HRSA); State Contracts with Colorado Departments of Public Health and Environment and/or Health Care Policy and Financing; or Community Development Block Grants.  As appropriate, the Grant Writer coordinates and attends planning and implementation meetings for grant funded projects.  The Grant Writer needs to develop and maintain in-depth working knowledge of relevant funding agency policies and guidelines, coordinating participation in technical assistance opportunities by all appropriate internal stakeholders as necessary.  The Grant Writer is also responsible for developing and submitting all required reporting and other supporting documentation on funded grants and contracts.

Qualifications

Education: Four-degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or similar area preferred..

Work Experience: Minimum 2 years' experience developing grant proposals, including budget presentations is required.  Other technical writing experience may be considered.  Specific experience with governmental grants/contracts preferred.  Experience writing for health-related fields preferred.  GPC credential, or work toward examination, is desirable.

Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office – including Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer and keyboarding skills required. Experience with
SharePoint preferred. Ability to learn required online submission and reporting software. Knowledge of Donor Perfect recommended.

Other Skills: Must be innovative, detail oriented, self-confident, self-motivated and professional. Ability to develop and deliver presentations and facilitate meetings with multiple internal and community partners.

Physical Demands

Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements, and frequent fine motor skills. Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
