Peak Vista Community Health Centers provides exceptional healthcare to people facing access barriers.

We are a private nonprofit dedicated to premier medical, dental and behavioral health services for people of all ages. We provide primary care services to residents of the Pikes Peak Region through 19 outpatient health centers and are accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC).

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

The referral specialist is key in obtaining medically appropriate services inside and outside of the PVCHC healthcare system. Patient needs are identified through an established referral process by the PVCHC health care system. The referral specialist will determine the most cost-effective avenue to obtain the medically appropriate services based on the patient’s current payor source. This person will be familiar with all payor sources accepted by PVCHC and external providers. This person will utilize all referral processes applicable to the payor source, including pre-certifications and prior authorizations. The referral specialist will follow the proper computer process for referral input/data (i.e.- Referrals Plus and E.H.R.) Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program desirable. “Registered/Certified” status a plus.

Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years healthcare experience preferred. Front/back medical office experience preferred.

Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability): High reasoning, high language skills, critical thinking and critical problem solving skills required.

Computer Skills: Basic computer and keyboarding skills required.

Other Skills: Ability to work with a diverse group of people, handle multiple issues that are time sensitive. Bilingual (Spanish/ASL) preferred.

Certificates & Licenses: MA certificate; CPR required.

Physical Demands

Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements, and frequent fine motor skills. Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
