Job Summary (Essential Functions)

The Clinical Education Coordinator will report to the Director of Clinical Training Operations.  The primary function of this position is supporting the Clinical Operations Training Team, through the development and maintenance of clinical education/training initiatives and the internal Medical Assistant student program.  This support and coordination includes: partnering with medical clinics and student preceptors to ensure student success, performing skill labs and assessing skills of students, facilitating various meetings and conference calls for the program and monitoring program quality through evaluations and assessments.  In addition this position includes: participation in a variety of ongoing training projects, the continual education and development of clinical staff, supporting and aiding in the development of a team based care model, and monitoring quality and MU/UDS measures of clinical staff.  The Clinical Education Coordinator will also work in conjunction with clinics throughout the organization to ensure all staff are optimally trained on the EHR and provide support for audits and verifying quality assurance standards are being met.

  • Work in conjunction with Clinical Leadership to orientate, train and develop clinical staff and Medical Assistant students.
  • Travel to variouis clinics to provide on-site training support for clinical staff and Medical Assistant students.
  • Participation as needed in various clinical projects and develop training plans and training materials.
  • Assist with training design and content development as needed.
  • Solicit and communicate feedback from clinical staff regarding clinical workflows, the Medical Assistant student program and associated processes and policies.
  • Work collaboratively with quality assurance in order to maintain and monitor quality measures in clinics and pertaining to the Medical Assistant student program.
  • Provide primary overall support for the Medical  Assistant student program.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings.
  • Provide support for students enrolled in the Medical Assistant program.
  • Perform evaluations and assessments for the Medical Assistant program.
  • Ensure Medical Assistant program curriculum is followed and act as a trainee advocate through the tracking of performance and skills.
  • Ensure Medical Assistant program retention
  • Track necessary information in regards to the Medical Assistant program grant.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education:  High school diploma or equivalent required.  Additional higher education preferred.  Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or EMT program required.

Work Experience:  A minimum of 1 year of previous professional healthcare or social service experience required.  Training and program coordination experience preferred.  Experience with educational programs is preferred.

Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability):  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, business agreements, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret and implement a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:  Due to the administrative, coordination and clerical functions associated wih this job, a thorough understanding of word processing, spreadsheet manipulation and processing and exceptional customer service are required.

Other Skills:  Ability to flourish independently and in a team management system.  Sensitivity to low income, ethnic and other minority communities.  Excellent organizational, listening, de-escalation, tracking and documentation skills required.

Certificates & Licenses:  Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or EMT program required.  A valid Driver's Licenses in good standing.

Physical Demands
Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements, and frequent fine motor skills.  Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
