Peak Vista Community Health Centers is a non-profit healthcare organization whose mission is to provide exceptional healthcare to people facing access barriers.  We provide primary care services (medical, dental and behavioral healthcare) through 28 outpatient health centers in El Paso, Teller, Lincoln, Adams, Elbert, and Kit Carson counties.  We deliver care with our strong “Hospitality” culture.  Our organization has over 800 employees and serves 82,000 patients in the Pikes Peak & East Central Plains region.  Peak Vista is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC).

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

As a member of the Peak Vista senior leadership team and a steward of the corporation’s assets and operations, the Chief Nursing and Clinical Officer is directly responsible to the President and CEO and shall supervise the Vice Presidents that directly support nursing, clinical and other related departments.  The Chief Nursing and Clinical Officer will have direct involvement in the budgeting process through coordination with the Chief Financial Officer and have responsibility and accountability for implementing the Operations plan and budget, and have such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the President and CEO.
 
Areas of focus include strategic initiatives; research and planning of new programs; project implementation, tracking and coordination; contract negotiations, and resource allocation.  Oversees integral elements of Peak Vista’s Quality Improvement program through the implementation of charters, policies, processes and procedures. Must possess capital budgeting process proficiency, as well as knowledge of effective and ongoing facility operations.  Must support a culture of hospitality.  Serves as a liaison with partnering agencies.  Must be proficient in project management to ensure requirements of grantors, third party payors and regulatory agencies. Presents information to staff, management and the Board of Directors as directed by the President and CEO, and as appropriate for corporate decision making.  Assures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.  Must demonstrate experience as an agent for change, improvement and overall excellence. Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a business field.  Prefer a master’s degree in business or related field. 

This position requires a clinical licensure and experience in direct patient care and 3-5 years of executive leadership experience.  Not-for-profit and public health care experience preferred. 

Systems thinking approach. Ability to compose documents for internal and external uses; presentation skills for a variety of audiences, and strong prioritization skills needed.  Critical thinking skills required.  Word, Excel and Access needed.  General knowledge of primary care software systems and project management software.  Advanced knowledge of compliance and continuous improvement activities, especially related to billing, grants, IT, patient rights and AAAHC. Ability to participate in strategic planning for PVCHC patients to receive the highest level of care. Skilled in identifying and learning workflows to better address and/or solve challenges within the organization.
 


Physical Demands

Able to lift at least 25 pounds. Long periods of standing and moving. Occasional periods of sitting. Hearing within normal range for telephone use. Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time
