Job Summary (Essential Functions)

In collaboration with staff Dentists, examines, diagnoses, and develops treatment plans consistent with generally recognized standards of care.  Provides a range of services to patients from preventive oral prophylaxis to therapeutic non-surgical periodontal treatments.  Services may include, but are not limited to, routine oral prophylaxis, fluoride application, pit and fissure sealant, debridement, scaling and root planning, and periodontal maintenance. Administers local anesthetic as indicated.
 
Provides clinical services and health education to improve and maintain oral health of school children.
 
Supports integration of oral health within the Pediatric Health Center.
 
Conducts dental health clinics for community groups to augment services of dentist.


Qualifications

Language Ability:
Verbal and writing skills to properly communicate oral findings, treatment recommendations, and treatment provided. Ability to communicate with individuals and groups, providing oral health instruction. Bi-Lingual skills preferred.
 
Computer Skills:
Ability to use standard office computers and software for preparing routine reports, correspondence, and educational slide presentations. Familiarity with typical dental office practice management software, digital radiology, and electronic dental records.
 
Certificates and Licenses:
Certificate or Diploma from an ADA/CODA-Accredited Dental Hygiene program
Colorado Dental Hygiene License
