Job Summary (Essential Functions)

Responsible for understanding the billing details and requirements for all third party payors and miscellaneous programs. Enters and/or approves data into the computer system according to appropriate guidelines to ensure that PVCHC accounts receivable is correct. Third party billing via electronic, web portal or hardcopy formats. Posting payments and adjustments with appropriate codes. Coordination of member benefits. Adjusting member accounts based on updated information. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Work Experience: Medical terminology desired, understands medical and financial confidentiality, minimum 1-2 years’ experience in medical billing desired, minimum 1-2 years’ experience in health related field desired.

Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, and Reasoning Ability): Must have superior communication and customer service skills, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a timely manner, ability to communicate in person, by phone and in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner, ability to reason and prioritize responsibilities effectively and ability to resolve problems with minimal assistance.

Computer Skills: Data entry skills required, expedient and accurate use of 10 key and basic computer skills required.

Other Skills: Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, Payment balancing experience desired. ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding desired. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers and peers. Must be able to assist team members in the performance of their duties as workload permits to ensure departmental and company success.

Physical Demands

Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements, and frequent fine motor skills. Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
