Peak Vista Community Health Centers is a non-profit healthcare organization whose mission is to provide exceptional healthcare to people facing access barriers.  We provide primary care services (medical, dental and behavioral healthcare) through 21 outpatient health centers in El Paso, Teller, Lincoln, Adams, Elbert and Kit Carson counties.  We deliver care with our strong “Hospitality” culture.  Our organization has over 600 employees and serves over 10% of the residents in the Pikes Peak region.  Peak Vista is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC).

Job Summary

Responsible for coordination of all safety and emergency planning functions at Peak Vista, including the Safety Team, Emergency Planning teams, hazard vulnerability assessments, emergency drills and implementation of new safety and emergency practices. Develops and implements Continuity of Operations Plan in conjunction with Peak Vista Executive Team. Works in conjunction with HR to coordinate worker’s compensation programs and responds to workplace injuries by conducting root cause analyses and follow-up using return-to-work guidelines. Coordinates security functions at Peak Vista, including oversight of the security vendor contract and follow-up on security issues within the company. Attends various community meetings around emergency planning in both El Paso and Teller Counties. Coordinates corporate compliance with OSHA guidelines by recommending and assisting in implementation of OSHA best practices. Coordinates fit testing of N95 dust masks for employees.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Work Experience: 2-4 years’ experience with safety programs, worker’s compensation and emergency planning preferred.

Cognitive Skills: (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability): High language, high reasoning, critical thinking abilities, strong communication and organization skills required.

Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software. Ability to perform research on the internet. Reasonable typing speed (>25 WPM) required.

Other Skills: Ability to work, manage multiple projects, ability to manage several tasks at one time, ability to work with senior level staff.

Physical Demands

Able to support/lift at least 25 pounds. Long periods of standing, moving, occasional periods of sitting. Hearing within normal range for telephone use. Must be able to get from one clinic site to related locations. Must be able to drive to patient’s homes for visitation as needed.
