Peak Vista Community Health Centers is a non-profit healthcare organization whose mission is to provide exceptional healthcare to people facing access barriers.  We provide primary care services (medical, dental and behavioral healthcare) through 25 outpatient health centers in El Paso, Teller, Lincoln, Adams, Elbert, and Kit Carson counties.  We deliver care with our strong “Hospitality” culture.  Our organization has over 600 employees and serves over 10% of the residents in the Pikes Peak region.  Peak Vista is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC).

Job Summary (Essential Functions)
 The Vice President of Facilities and Safety is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, and control of the Facilities and Safety Departments ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals.

Job Duties:

  1. Work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Team on strategic space planning to include the development and implementation of the strategic space plan.
  2. Work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Team on Safety and Emergency Preparedness and Response to include the development and implementation of the safety plan and emergency preparedness/response plans.
  3. Assure Peak Vista meets the HRSA FQHC 19 Core Requirements as they relate to Facilities and Safety.
  4. Assure Peak Vista meets all federal, state, and local codes/regulations as they related to Facilities and Safety.
  5. Supervises the Managers of Facilities and Safety to include hiring, training, performance assessments and reviews, corrective actions, and terminations.
  6. Assists Managers in the development and implementation of Department goals and activities. Assures goals and activities are in alignment with the Peak Vista Strategic Plan.
  7. Develops and implements the Facilities and Safety budgets.Assures budgets are not exceeded without specific approvals of the COO, CFO, or CEO.
  8. Maintains open lines of communication with supervisor.Alerts supervisor to potential issues, delays, or concerns.Closes the loop to assure communication on completed projects and activities occurs.
  9. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with peers and other staff to assure the mission, goals, and activities of Peak Vista are completed timely, on budget, and with high quality.
  10. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with partners, contractors, and other to assure the mission, goals, and activities of Peak Vista are completed timely, on budget, and with high quality.
  11. Maintains a high level of professionalism at all times and leads by example.


Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering; Engineering Management, Construction, or related field.  Master’s Degree preferred.

Work Experience: 5-8 years management/leadership experience; 8 years project management experience preferred, 5 years safety and/or emergency preparedness/response preferred. Management of major construction projects a plus.

Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability):  Must have strong customer service skills, ability to negotiate, excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking and strong reasoning abilities, and decision-making capability.

Computer Skills:  General Microsoft programs. ‘Project Manager’ and ‘Auto CAD’ a plus.

Other Skills: Must be able to adapt and change quickly based on external/internal circumstances.


Physical Demands

Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements, and frequent fine motor skills.  Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range.  Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
