Job Summary (Essential Functions)

The Facilities Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) technician performs maintenance on the following Facilities equipment: Air Compressors, Air Dryers and variable-speed Air Handlers. Additionally this technician will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and efficient operation of the roof-top HVAC units. Such maintenance includes the chemical treatment and testing of all closed water systems and required record keeping. Routine duties include the operation and maintenance of all electrical, pneumatic and digital control systems as related to the HVAC systems. Additional duties include general Facilities tasks such as the repair and maintenance of: buildings and grounds, furniture relocation, general equipment repair and maintenance and snow removal. Facilities technicians also provide after-hours coverage via the “on-call program.” This is a 7 day, 24 hour, on-call status requiring the technician to respond to alarms or after hour requests at all of the PVCHC sites. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Minimum high school diploma required. Prefer an Associate Degree in HVAC. Must have strong working knowledge of water treatment systems including the control of TDS and PH.

Work Experience: Five years experience in the operation and maintenance HVAC equipment preferred.

Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability): Basic math skills, with solid understanding of standard HVAC calculations such as: Static Pressure and CFM required. Must speak and write English fluently.

Computer Skills: The position requires basic computer sills including MS Office applications such as Excel.

Other Skills: General maintenance skills required include basic electrical wiring, piping systems and carpentry.

Certificates & Licenses: A Colorado certification for boiler operation and maintenance is preferred. Valid Colorado drivers license, a clean driving record, and insurable by Peak Vista insurance carrier. The Facilities position requires that all technicians own and maintain a dependable and reliable vehicle as a condition of employment. This is required in order to fulfill the on-call requirements. Additionally, technicians are periodically required to use their personal vehicles as part of their normal duties.

Physical Demands

Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements, and frequent fine motor skills. Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
