Job Summary (Essential Functions)

Responsible for many aspects of the accounts receivable, customer service and departmental supervision. Provides guidance to staff in understanding the billing details and requirements for all third party payers and miscellaneous programs. Processing data in the EPM according to appropriate guidelines to ensure that PVCHC accounts receivable is correct. Third party billing via electronic, Web portal or hardcopy UB04, 1500 and ADA formats. Posting payments and adjustments with appropriate codes. Coordination of member benefits. Adjusting member accounts based on updated information. Responsible for patient accounts department training, coordinating, scheduling needed coverage, CPT and ICD-9 research and authorizing payments to outside agencies. Employee demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to the Compliance Plan and conflict of interest requirements.  The employee enhances the effectiveness; efficiency and productivity of the department by contributing to, and participating in, departmental performance improve goals. Performs other duties as assigned.
 

Supervision Exercised: Patient Accounts Representatives

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
 
Work Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in medical billing required. Previous supervising experience desired.

Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability): Superior communication and customer service skills required. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a timely manner required. Ability to communicate in person, by phone and in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner required. Ability to reason and prioritize responsibilities effectively, and to resolve problems with minimal assistance required.
 
Computer Skills: Data entry skills and basic computer skills required.
 
Other Skills: Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with attention to detail required. Payment balancing experience required. ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding required. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Managers and peers. Must be able to direct staff in the performance of their duties to ensure departmental and company success.

Physical Demands

Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements, and frequent fine motor skills. Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
