Description

Peak Vista Community Health Centers is a non-profit healthcare organization whose mission is to provide exceptional healthcare to people facing access barriers.  We provide primary care services (medical, dental and behavioral healthcare) through 28 outpatient health centers in El Paso, Teller, Lincoln, Adams, Elbert, and Kit Carson counties.  We deliver care with our strong “Hospitality” culture.  Our organization has over 800 employees and serves 82,000 patients in the Pikes Peak & East Central Plains region.  Peak Vista is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC).

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

This position is responsible for:
 

  • Developing medium and short-range strategy for implementing grant support for all aspects of Peak Vista’s business model
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Community Programs to develop and implement the long- and short-term fundraising strategy of Peak Vista Community Health Centers
  • Working closely with the VP of Community Programs and relevant Directors to operationalize a future vision of healthcare fundraising both locally and on a national level
  • Staying abreast of the changing healthcare marketplace and the changing direction of philanthropic giving to ensure strategic placement of Peak Vista’s grant seeking efforts
  •  Developing and maintaining a comprehensive and efficient grants program that is forward thinking in strategy while remaining timely with reporting and compliance requirements, i.e. possesses a balance of creativity and process-orientation
  • Working closely with the Executive Director of the Peak Vista Foundation to ensure grants planning supports and enhances fundraising strategies
  • Working closely with the Directors of Community Programs and Community Assessment to ensure grant funding and contracting supports the needs and director of Peak Vista’s Service Area communities
  • Supporting executive staff in all Federal grant management and compliance discussion, and will act as liaison to all federal program officers
  • Exercising direct supervision of the Grants department, directing and overseeing the research, preparation, submission and post-award management of all grants. The primary focus of the Grants Department is the development of competitive grants in response to government and private sector offerings Included within this oversight is compliance of funded programs with funder requirements and expectations, including data collection, performance tracking and analysis, and internal monthly reporting
  • Representing the Grants Department at a Leadership level, supporting the relationship between funding opportunities and both current and future programming needs
  • Coordinating ongoing grant-focused prospect research and grant funding projections in conjunction with the annual agency budgeting process
  • Ensuring close collaboration with appropriate Finance staff on the development and implementation of grant and contract budgets, maintaining a strong working relationship with all Finance Leadership
  • Ensuring  compliance with federal, state and local requirements supporting Peak Vista’s role as a Federally Qualified Health Center, and as a key partner in the statewide healthcare safety net
  • Fostering an environment of continuous improvement and efficiency
  • Strengthen and support community efforts to coalesce and form strategic alliances to address Health disparities and economic inequities
  • Collaborate with Clinical and Administrative Leadership for grant seeking in support of both internal programming and community-based activities
  • Strategically represent the roles and interests of reporting departments while participating in agency-wide planning
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Community Programs to develop and manage a program budget that appropriately supports department and staff development
  • Perform related and ‘other duties’ as assigned

 
Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience developing grant proposals, including budget presentations. Other technical writing experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership capacity
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, effectively, and persuasively, both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Strong research, analysis and critical thinking skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Business, or equivalent experience in grant writing, fundraising, research and/or non-profit administration
  • Ability to work within the Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Experience with Donor Perfect software preferred

Physical Demands
Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements, and frequent fine motor skills. Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
