Job Summary (Essential Functions)

 
The Supervising Senior Accountant is responsible for assuring the process and specific entries are correct which will in turn ensure the accurate reporting of the financial statements and any data prepared by the finance department. Prepares and maintains the annual budget by working with leadership team and meeting the Board of Directors Strategic Goals. Responsible for preparing the 990, 5500, FSR, Cost Reports , 330 Grant finance sections and the financial sections of the UDS for the federal granting reports. Oversees audit work papers are prepared accurately and meeting external requirements. Assures the process for recording supplemental accounting ledgers are recorded correctly and documentation is accurate. Responsible for the financial budgeting and analysis functions of the organization, when needed for the Operational, Capital and Program requirements. After providing key data elements for the budget variance reporting process, assists managers in preparing monthly budget variance reports and statistics for decision making processes. Develops and prepares quarterly forecast for organization to aid in operating and cash flow decision making. Manages capital budget and monitors expenditures. Prepares any operational proformas needed for company decision making process after investigating the program and contract requirements. The information overseen by the supervising Senior Staff Accounting will be shared with the leadership team, board of directors and external agencies. This position is responsible to assure financial information is prepared in accordance with GAAP, GAAS and other financial reporting standards. The Supervising Senior Staff Accountant must assure supporting documentation and the logic of the entries are defensible prior to sharing the information outside the finance department. The position will assure high risk accounting areas are identified , reported and resolved to assure the integrity of the accounting. Assures internal and external audit work papers are prepared accurately and timely. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 
Education: Bachelor’s degree required in one of the following: Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Master’s degree in related area preferred..

Work Experience: Three to five years of staff accounting experience required. Experience in a non-profit organization desirable as well as healthcare related financial experience. Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability): High language, high reasoning and critical thinking abilities.

Computer Skills: Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as in accounting and other related programs. Preferred experience in ADP and NexGen. Experience with Dynamics SL and FRX preferred. Ability to adapt to new software. 10 key by touch.

Other Skills: Demonstrates ability to work/manage projects. Manage priorities.

Physical Demands
Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills. Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. Must be able to lift 30 pounds
