Job Summary (Essential Functions)
Summary:  Assists with support of activities related to the Care Team nursing staff at all PVCHC sites.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

  • In collaboration with the Integrated Health Services team, assists with the direction of successfully maintaining and improving the inter-disciplinary team approach
  • Support the PVCHC Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement, and Risk Management programs
  • Acts as a supportive clinical liaison for accreditation review and provides technical assistance, as needed
  • Represent PVCHC as needed in meetings with outside agencies
  • Assist with employee health needs including but not limited to Worker's Compensation, coordination of new employee health records and required immunizations
  • Responsible for infection Control activities and Immunization programs within the organization to ensure processes and standards meet requirements for governing and accrediting organizations and CDC
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Training team to assist with instruction of new equipment and ongoing staff education and orientation
  • Participates in investigation of unusual clinical infection exposures or outbreaks, utilizing microbiology laboratory, county/state health departments and if necessary, the Center for Disease Control
  • Conduct environmental rounds, collects data, and completes audits to monitor for compliance
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the infection prevention surveillance plan and modifies as necessary
  • Compiles and interprets surveillance reports for department and committee review
  • Participates in quality/performance improvement by assessing, monitoring and measuring infection prevalence
  • Plans, develops, organizes, and implements, with assistance of the training department, educational programs for all clinic employees, students, and contractors
  • Makes recommendations concerning protocols and process
  • Ensures proper storage and handling of sterile equipment
  • Monitors and ensures proper use of autoclaves, chem-claves, high and low speed hand pieces, hydrocolloid equipment, etc.
  • Ensures equipment and instruments in various clinics are disinfected and sterilized properly
  • Coordinates reporting of communicable disease results to the county and/or state health department and maintains appropriate records
  • Employee demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to the Compliance Plan and conflict of interest requirements. The employee enhances the effectiveness; efficiency and productivity of the department by contributing to, and participating in, departmental performance improve goals.

 Supervision Exercised: Health Education Department, Per Diem Nurses, Resolution Team

Qualifications
Education/Experience: 
Education: Bachelors of Science in Nursing required.

Work Experience:
Minimum 1-3 years of nursing experience required with a minimum of 1 year in a nursing leadership preferred; ambulatory care/primary care setting experience preferred; knowledge of process improvement or infection control preferred.
 
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
 
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
 
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
 
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software.
 
Certificates and Licenses:
Current Colorado RN License required. CPR (BSL) Certification required. Colorado Driver's License and Insurance as required by state law.

Physical Demands
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
