Peak Vista Community Health Centers is a non-profit healthcare organization whose mission is to provide exceptional healthcare to people facing access barriers.  We provide primary care services (medical, dental and behavioral healthcare) through 25 outpatient health centers in El Paso, Teller, Lincoln, Adams, Elbert, and Kit Carson counties.  We deliver care with our strong “Hospitality” culture.  Our organization has over 600 employees and serves over 10% of the residents in the Pikes Peak region.  Peak Vista is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC).

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

The ideal candidate should be a results-oriented self-starter who possesses excellent written and oral communication skills, and enjoys working in a multi-task, detail oriented and deadline-driven environment.  This position requires creativity, initiative, organization, good judgment, and the ability to express thoughts clearly and simply.   The communications coordinator must consistently demonstrate the ability to both grasp “big picture” ideas and handle small details and logistics of a project with commitment and a proactive, positive and team-minded behavior.

Designs collateral and traditional advertising, to include flyers, posters, banners, ads, brochures, event programs and more; Develops, posts and maintains company intranet communication board, Quick Peak; Creates and edits artwork for various internal and external signs company wide; Proofs and edits many different types of creative content to ensure accuracy and continuity with current campaigns and Peak Vista brand guidelines; Incorporates translated copy, typically Spanish, into creative design pieces to ensure accuracy and cultural relevancy; Uses department tracking software program to report creative project statuses; Compose articles for multiple target audiences, external publications, on-hold messaging, scripts and press releases, often under tight deadlines; Coordinates and tracks media mentions; proactively searches for new media relations opportunities; produce weekly media hits report; Maintains media lists and generates others lists as needed to assist in email marketing campaigns; Conducts surveys and works Peak Vista public relations  or marketing events to collect and identify patient preferences and experiences; Maintains and generates daily, weekly and monthly reporting information for the Communications Brand Manager; Coordinates and tracks the accuracy and compliance of official Peak Vista forms;  internal event logistics such as provider events; Prioritizes a heavy workload while meeting multiple deadlines with a high degree of accuracy under minimal supervision; Provides photography and events support, as assigned; Assigned as back up for media inquiries, as appropriate; Provides administrative duties for Communications Department; Collaborates on special projects, as assigned; Performs other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor Degree in communications, marketing, public relations or related field required
  • Work Experience: 2-3 years of communications, marketing or public relations required
  • Demonstrated graphic design and publishing proficiency required
  • Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability): Must have strong oral, written skills and proofreading skills; familiarity with Associated Press style preferred
  • Strong communication skills, problem solving/decision making, project and time management skills
  • Crisis Communication training and experience preferred
  • Computer Skills: High proficiency Microsoft Word with particular proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, Top level proficiency in Creative Suite (CS5 of higher: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator); general experience with web design, content management, e-marketing platforms and Google Analytics preferred. Basic understanding of HTML
  • Knowledge of social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) preferred
  • Ability to type 45 words per minute with outstanding accuracy
  • Ability to work with databases preferred
  • Ability to perform repeated tasks on a daily basis while maintaining a high attention to details
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with fast-paced deadlines, required
  • Professional conduct and appearance
  • Interpersonal relations, team player, personal integrity, strong work ethic, non-profit orientation, ability to learn quickly; demonstrate flexibility, positive attitude and high energy required
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus, but not required
  • Certificates & Licenses: Valid Driver’s License and insurance required
