(AAAHC).


Grants Manager

This position is responsible for the direct supervision of the Grants department. The primary focus of the Grants Department is the development of competitive grants in response to government and private sector offerings. The Grants Manager will provide oversight of research, grant preparation and submission, and the subsequent reporting of all grant funding awarded. Included within this oversight is compliance of funded programs with funder requirements and expectations, including data collection, performance tracking and analysis, and internal monthly reporting. The Grants Manager coordinates and facilitates planning and implementation meetings for grant funded projects as appropriate, and supports and interprets guidance for staff and leadership as needed. The Grants Manager coordinates ongoing grant-focused prospect research and grant funding projections in conjunction with the annual agency budgeting process. Grants Manager ensures close collaboration with appropriate Finance staff on the development and implementation of grant and contract budgets. Grants Manager coordinates and conducts monthly Grants Reconciliation meetings in conjunction with Finance, Materials Management and Contracts departments. As a member of the Community Programs Division, the Grants Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state and local requirements supporting Peak Vista’s role as a Federally Qualified Health Center, and as a key partner in the statewide healthcare safety net. In addition, the role is responsible for fostering an environment of continuous improvement and efficiency. 
 
Oversight Responsibilities:
The position receives oversight from the Vice President of Project Management
This position exercises oversight of the Lead Grant Writer and Grant Writers.
 
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Strengthen and support community efforts to coalesce and form strategic alliances to address Health disparities and economic inequities
  • Build a high level of trust, credibility and partnership with community partner agencies to foster basis for collaborative grant activities
  • Organize and support community research, understanding, development and implementation of strategies to advance health equity
  • Understand and appreciate the social determinants of health and how they affect people’s lives
  • Collaborate with Clinical and Administrative Departments for grant seeking in support of both internal programming and community-based activities
  • Develop, recommend, and implement departmental goals as related to the corporate strategic plan
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Community Programs to execute the long- and short-term fundraising strategy of Peak Vista Community Health Centers
  • Strategically represent the roles and interests of reporting departments while participating in agency-wide planning
  • Foster cohesive ‘hospitality’ orientation among departmental staff, recognizing that Community Assessment and Grants support the various departments within the agency in attaining the organizational mission
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Community Programs to develop program budget that supports the department and staff development appropriately
  • Monitors budgets and assures department is within budget limits
  • Participate in various teams as necessary
  • Provides direct oversight of the grant writing staff, including but not limited to: hiring, firing, personnel action and oversight of departmental progress
  • Perform related and ‘other duties’ as assigned
 
Experience Required/Preferred:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience developing grant proposals, including budget presentations. Other technical writing experience may be considered. 
  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership capacity preferred
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, effectively, and persuasively, both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Strong research, analysis and critical thinking skills 
  • Bachelor’s degree in English/Technical Writing, Communications, Business, or equivalent experience in grant writing, fundraising, research and/or non-profit administration
  • Ability to work within the Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Experience with Donor Perfect software preferred

Physical Demands

Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements, and frequent fine motor skills.  Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range.  Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
