Job Summary:  The Patient Accounts Representative – Eligibility support billing functions.
                                                                                                                               
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 
 

  • Responsible for understanding the billing details and requirements for all third party payors and miscellaneous programs.
  • Enters and/or approves data into the computer system according to appropriate guidelines to ensure that PVCHC accounts receivable is correct.
  • Third party billing via electronic, Web portal or hardcopy formats.
  • Posting payments and adjustments with appropriate codes.
  • Coordination of member benefits.
  • Adjusting member accounts based on updated information.
  • Coordinates HMS eligibility and billing activities.
  • Identifies trends in the HMS process and assists with staff education to complete activities.

Education/Experience:
 
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Work Experience: Medical terminology desired, understands medical and financial confidentiality, minimum 1-2 years experience in medical billing desired, minimum 1-2 years experience in health related field desired.
 
Language Ability:
Must have superior communication and customer service skills
 
Math Ability:
Payment balancing experience desired. ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding desired.
 
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a timely manner, ability to communicate
in person, by phone and in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner, ability to reason and prioritize responsibilities effectively and ability to resolve problems with minimal assistance.
 
Computer Skills:
Data entry skills required, expedient and accurate use of 10 key and basic computer
skills required.
