Peak Vista Community Health Centers is a non-profit healthcare organization whose mission is to provide exceptional healthcare to people facing access barriers.  We provide primary care services (medical, dental and behavioral healthcare) through 25 outpatient health centers in El Paso, Teller, Lincoln, Adams, Elbert, and Kit Carson counties.  We deliver care with our strong “Hospitality” culture.  Our organization has over 600 employees and serves over 10% of the residents in the Pikes Peak region.  Peak Vista is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC).

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

Reports directly to the Vice President of Business Intelligence and Revenue and is responsible for developing, planning, organizing, and implementing current and future strategies to bill payors, process payments, minimize bad debt, improve cash flow and maximize patient revenues and collections. Manages the overall health of Peak Vista’s patient receivables while improving patient, physician, and customer relations. Responsible for system evaluation in regards to the revenue cycle, making recommendations for system upgrades and updates, and process improvement.  Also responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of Peak Vista as they relate to the revenue cycle functions which include but are not limited to front office services, enrollment, reception, billing, collections, and accounts receivables. 

This position will work with Peak Vista’s billing, finance, and front office departments on revenue cycle performance to meet strategic goals and will provide key revenue cycle indicators reporting, analytical analysis, and create written guidelines, policies, and standard operating procedures and ensure consistent company-wide implementation.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Peak Vista’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities included training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performances; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Responsible for hiring, firing, and evaluating employees. Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received: Vice President of Business Intelligence and Revenue
Supervision Exercised: PAD Manager, PAD staff and/or as assigned

Qualifications

Education: Associate’s and/or bachelor’s degree in business or healthcare administration preferred; or equivalent experience in medical/healthcare setting.

Work Experience: Three (3) years medical billing/cashier experience preferred, customer service experience, previous community or public health experience desired and previous ambulatory or hospital experience required. Knowledge of insurance coverage and eligibility requirements. Basic accounting / finance knowledge helpful.

Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability): High language, high reasoning and critical thinking abilities, analytical skills.

Computer Experience: Skilled in PC based systems; keyboarding skills

Other Skills: Ability to work/manage projects

Physical Demands

Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills. Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
