Job Summary (Essential Functions)

The primary role of the Patient Accounts Supervisor – Dental is to facilitate the effective process of dental billing, to include charge posting and billing.

  • Monitors status of Dental Accounts Receivable and works with assigned staff to complete duties as assigned
  • Makes recommendations for process improvement in the area of dental billing
  • Responsible for many aspects of the accounts receivable, customer service and departmental supervision.
  • Provides guidance to staff in understanding the billing details and requirements for all third party payers and miscellaneous programs.
  • Processing data in the EPM according to appropriate guidelines to ensure that PVCHC accounts receivable is correct.
  • Third party billing via electronic, Web portal or hardcopy UB04, 1500 and ADA formats.
  • Posting payments and adjustments with appropriate codes.
  • Coordination of member benefits.
  • Adjusting member accounts based on updated information.
  • Responsible for patient accounts department training, coordinating, scheduling needed coverage, CPT and ICD-10 research and authorizing payments to outside agencies.
  • Responsible for attendance tracking, training, process improvement and quality assurance in conjunction with the Manager to ensure compliance.

Performs other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

Education/Experience:
 
High School Diploma or GED required
Work Experience: 2 years in healthcare environment and customer service required.
 
Language Ability:
Must have superior communication and customer service skills
 
Math Ability:
Payment balancing experience desired. ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding desired.
 
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a timely manner, ability to communicate
in person, by phone and in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner, ability to reason and prioritize responsibilities effectively and ability to resolve problems with minimal assistance.
 
Computer Skills:
Data entry skills required, expedient and accurate use of 10 key and basic computer
skills required.


Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
