Job Summary (Essential Functions)

Surgical Dental Coordinator schedules inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures to be performed by PVCHC providers at Memorial Health Systems.  Surgical DA Coordinator is familiar with all payer sources accepted by PVCHC and external agencies.  Surgical DA Coordinator will utilize all referral processes applicable to the payer source, including pre-certifications, prior authorizations and/or required documentation.  Other duties include: developing all provider monthly schedules and distributing to internal and external parties, maintaining and assisting providers with patient assistance programs, generating surgical packets for patients, assisting with direct patient care as needed.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:  Graduate of Dental Assistant Program desirable, current x-ray certification.

Work Experience:  Minimum of 2 years of dental experience required that includes front/back office experience.

Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability):  High language, high reasoning and critical thinking abilities, problem solving skills.

Computer Skills:  Must be computer literate-will need to learn EPM, EHR, DENTRIX, keyboarding skills.

Other Skills:  Ability to manage several phone calls at one time, handle multiple issues that are time sensitive.  Ability to work with a diverse patient population, Bi-lingual (Spanish or sign language) preferred.

Certificates & licenses:  DA Certificate, preferred; Current CPR (BCLS) certificiation.

Physical Demands

Long periods of standing, moving, and sitting, frequent bending and fine motor skills. Hearing within normal range for telephone use. Must be able to get from one clinic site to related locations. . Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time.  Must be able to support/lift 50 pound
