Job Summary

Peak Vista is in need of Registered Nurses to work per diem in our Convenient Care Center in central Colorado Springs. Previous experience in ambulatory care settings desirable. Performs all routine and emergent nursing functions pertinent to efficient, ambulatory patient care, including telephone and face-to-face triage. Optimizes provider schedule utilization by managing patient flow. Monitors medical records and assures patients' needs are attended to in a timely manner. Assists providers of the clinic with patient care.  Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, self-motivated, strong patient skills, responsible, hard working, computer literate, and able to handle multiple issues at one time. Must work well with providers and support staff; be able to perform telephone and face-to-face triage as well as direct patient care. Bilingual (Engl./Spanish) a plus.  Computer literate and able to achieve competence in current IDX patient management system and current electronic health record system.  

Peak Vista Community Health Centers provides exceptional healthcare to people facing access barriers.  We are a private nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center dedicated to premier medical, dental and behavioral health services for people of all ages. We provide primary care services to low-income, uninsured and underinsured residents (as well as others with access barriers) of the Pikes Peak Region through 19 outpatient health centers and are accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC). 

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing Program

Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year clinical nursing experience required. Ambulatory care and Primary care setting experience preferred. Triage experience preferred.

Cognitive Skills: (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability): High language, high reasoning and critical thinking abilities

Computer Skills: Must be computer literate.

Other Skills: Ability to manage several tasks at one time. Ability to work with a diverse patient population. Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred

Certificates & Licenses: Current Colorado RN License. Current CPR (BCLS) certification required 


Work Environment

OSHA risk level/work environmental hazards (Blood Borne Pathogens/Hazardous Chemicals): A potential exposure to human blood or bodily fluids can be anticipated from certain job tasks or procedures listed in the job description. Hepatitis B vaccine available to select employees. Job requirements may also result in exposure to hazardous chemicals on a daily basis. (Refer to PVCHC's Exposure Control Plan)

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use will be based on the task or procedure being performed, the degree of exposure anticipated and what is required for protection. PPE may include but is not limited to gloves, masks, gowns, lab coats, protective eyewear, & face shields.

Training Requirements: Quarterly blood borne pathogen and hazardous communication training is required, the initial training must be completed before the employee is assigned duties that may result in exposure to blood or bodily fluids. Quarterly Age Specific training is required in accordance with Policy and Procedure 510 5-C. Quarterly needle stick prevention training in compliance with infection control is required. Current CPR status required with renewal done bi-annually or as needed according to expiration. Failure to maintain current CPR status could result in termination (Policy and Procedure 150.45). Quarterly training for Immunizations will be required (as part of or in addition to monthly competencies). Upon new hire, Clinical Orientation will be attended and completed successfully.

Physical Demands: Able to support/lift at least 50 pounds. Long periods of standing, moving, occasional periods of sitting. Hearing within normal range for telephone use. Must be able to get from one clinic site to related locations.
