Peak Vista Community Health Centers is a non-profit healthcare organization whose mission is to provide exceptional healthcare to people facing access barriers.  We provide primary care services (medical, dental and behavioral healthcare) through 25 outpatient health centers in El Paso, Teller, Lincoln, Adams, Elbert, and Kit Carson counties.  We deliver care with our strong “Hospitality” culture.  Our organization has over 600 employees and serves over 10% of the residents in the Pikes Peak region.  Peak Vista is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC).

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

Responsible for administration and operations of the Family Medicine Residency Program, including oversight and/or participation in all activities related to recruitment, selection, curriculum development, scheduling and rotations, instruction, supervision, advising, evaluation and advancement of residents and the maintenance of all records related to the program. Responsible for supervising and evaluating residents, faculty and staff members at the primary teaching institution, as well as coordination and oversight of additional institutions participating in the residency program. Ensures compliance with institutional and accrediting agency requirements and appropriate notification of major programmatic changes and obtaining approval prior to their implementation.

Qualifications

Education: Must possess a D.O. or M.D. and is board-certified by either the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in Family Medicine specialty. Must meet the continuing medical education (CME) requirements of the AOA and the specialty college.

Work Experience: At least four years active medical practice preferred. Healthcare administrative experience, clinical practice, and teaching involvement in the respective specialty preferred.

Cognitive Skills: Must possess excellent cognitive skills. Clinical skills should be at a level so as to command respect from the clinical staff. Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills. Practice management skills and experience preferred.

Computer Skills: Should possess at least basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point.

Other Skills: Must possess and demonstrate clinical leadership skills. Must possess a broad healthcare knowledge base with respect to the application of clinical skills.Attitudinally suited to conduct a training program and possess solid team-building and mentoring skills. Three or more years of experience as faculty in an AOA or ACGME accredited training program preferred.

Certificate & Licenses: Must possess active Colorado medical license. Expectation that physician maintain active membership in AOA and the appropriate osteopathic specialty college.  Must be eligible for hospital privileges in local hospitals, specialty preferred.

Physical Demands
Able to support/lift at least 50 pounds. Long periods of standing, moving, occasional periods of sitting. Hearing within normal range for telephone use. Must be able to get from on clinic site to another.
