We are a private nonprofit dedicated to premier medical, dental and behavioral health services for people of all ages. We provide primary care services to residents of the Pikes Peak Region through 20 outpatient health centers and are accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC).

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

The Senior Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician, Heating, Ventilation, is responsible for the design, selection and efficient operation of HVAC equipment. This position is responsible for performing engineering calculations and work with HVAC designers to modify existing systems. This position will use HVAC applications to modify software for use in both pneumatic and electronic control systems.  This position will use a strong knowledge of Federal, State & Local compliance codes to regulate the HVAC systems of Peak Vista facilities. This position will use a strong knowledge of chemistry to test, analyze and treat closed loop systems.  This position will interpret and implement engineering drawings and use strong mathematical and analytical skills to monitor, modify and ensure maximum system operations and energy efficiencies.
 
Additional duties include general Facilities tasks such as the repair and maintenance of: buildings and grounds, furniture relocation, general equipment maintenance and snow removal. Facilities technicians also provide after-hours coverage via the “on-call program.” This is a rotating 7 day, 24 hour task, which requires the “on-call” technician to respond to alarms or after hour requests at all of the PVCHC sites. Also includes general Facilities related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Associate Degree in HVAC Design & Maintenance required. A higher education is preferred. 

Work Experience: 7 years experience as a Senior Level HVAC technician required, preferably in the medical industry. 10 or more years are preferred. Experience in computerized HVAC applications required.

Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, and Reasoning Ability): Strong math, chemistry and analytical skills required including standard HVAC calculations such as: Static Pressure, BTUs and CFM.  Must speak, read and write English fluently.

Computer Skills: The position requires basic computer sills including MS Office applications such as Excel.  Experienced in HVAC applications preferred.  

Other Skills: General maintenance skills required include basic electrical wiring, plumbing systems and carpentry, etc. Must have a strong knowledge of Federal, State & Local compliance codes regulating HVAC systems.  Must have a strong knowledge of chemistry and the ability to test, analyze and treat closed loop systems. 

Certificates & Licenses: Colorado certification for boiler operation and maintenance preferred. Valid Colorado driver’s license and clean driving record that is insurable by Peak Vista insurance carrier. Must own and maintain a dependable and reliable vehicle as a condition of employment in order to fulfill the on-call requirements. Additionally, technicians are periodically required to use their personal vehicles in performing assigned tasks (reimbursable per PVCHC mileage reimbursement policy). 

Physical Demands

Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements, and frequent fine motor skills. Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
